Sending your files

Scott Labels can accept your files however you want to provide them.
Snail mail them on CD, stick, or even SSD, although we do not guarantee the return of the device so we suggest the following:
Email attachments should be no larger than 10 MB.
Files can be compressed as Stuffit or Zip files, although we prefer non-compressed files as there’s less to go wrong. If you have access to an FTP site allowing us access, we can of course use this as well.
By far the easiest way is using a free service such as wetransfer.com This allows you to send large uncompressed files with the added benefit of being able to track the file and get notified when we have downloaded it. Simply use our email, studio@scottlabels.co.uk.
To check against digital artwork files, please provide a hard copy or a .pdf file of what you expect the label to look like, particularly where special requirements are requested.

Software Used at Scott Labels

We’re Macintosh-based workflow supporting the following applications:

• Adobe Illustrator 
  
• Adobe Indesign
  
• Adobe Photoshop
  
• Adobe Acrobat Professional

We can also accept Encapsulated PostScript files (.eps) or Print Ready Adobe Acrobat files (.pdf).
When creating a .pdf, please ensure it is of the highest optimal resolution for print. Also, ensure that your PDF is created using full Acrobat compatibility.

General Information

• When sending all electronic artwork, please clearly label all files so they can be easily identified.
• A hard copy is always advised, particularly where special requirements are requested.
• Remove all unwanted layers, colours and clearly mark up all special colours ie Opaque Whites, and Pantone specifics, particularly in applications such as Photoshop.
• Cutters, please indicate cutters as a separate layer and call the layer ‘Cutter guide’. Please do not send cutter guides as Photoshop files, they need to be provided as a single vector path. Ensure that cutters are set to ‘overprint’.
• Fonts – Include all fonts, such as .ttf when supplying digital files. Where fonts can’t be supplied please outline them.
  Please do not embed them in Acrobat as this function does not work when opening in Illustrator.
• Any text created in Photoshop will appear pixelated when printed and this should be avoided by supplying as vector or live text.
• Scans must be a minimum of 300 dpi at actual size. Layered files are our preferred choice and should be saved as .psd (Photoshop’s native file format).
• Barcodes can be created by us, however, we recommend them not to be any smaller than 80% in magnification.
